Let me review your script and work with you to strengthen political messaging with current research or sneaky ways we can educate. My work is aimed at adding political punch in a way that makes you self-censor less and be more politically pointed, while still not losing your unique message. This is not a sensitivity read but is related to preserving Article 19 human rights to freedom of expression without resorting to vilification, hate speech, or what is often called 'punching down'. The fact is, we need more lived experience work out there; boldly, confidently, and I aim to support you do that without flinching.

Co-production of customised trauma-informed templates for festivals, grants applications and marketing. These include methods and scripts for addressing systemic policing of artistic expression in keeping with the principles of cultural democracy. These include (but are not limited to) content warning statements, performer and audience trauma-informed care strategies, and communication templates. I’ll work with you to distil key talking points to resist representational policing of your work. Quick turn-around - these can be done in 2 - 4 hours.

Practical guidance to developing critical messaging while keeping the artistic/representational merit of work intact. The provision of clear, frank and fearless, evidence-based support on determining risk and mitigation for representational resistance. This is achieved through harnessing lived expertise as expertise and centring progressive political messages, with confidence and clarity (without it being the trauma porn of old).

Want me to speak at something? Yes, sure. I charge a minimum fee of $250, based upon a ten-minute comedy spot. If you want me for something serious or something more - pay me appropriately. I no longer speak at conferences where I have to pay a fee or the reward is a t-shirt or a movie ticket.
Working with me is always entertaining, but I also give honest advice that doesn’t mess around, that isn’t for everyone. That’s why I offer the 30-minute free “Cultural Democracy Clinic”. I have expertise in several ways to avoid your artistic, academic or journalistic work being named in parliament, or if you wish to achieve the opposite, how to work towards getting named in parliament.
I aim to be trauma-informed in my practice, but I also accept that for this to work, I have to centre your work, without compromising my ethics. So, what are my ethics, I hear you ask?
I want to work with people who want to make change and who aim to do it using truth-telling or lived experience and don’t want to add to the ‘trauma porn industry’. I believe that those who use humour in their work can achieve more than outrage manufacture and I’ve done ten years of a deep dive into this, including a PhD in political science on the politics of the comedy of the politics of oppression.
In all my work, while we may not be doing research together (yet), I follow the ethical principles of the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research.
